Solution:

Speed = 2m/s

Time taken to reach school = 15 minutes = 15 × 60 seconds = 900 seconds

Speed = (Distance travelled)/ (Time)

Distance = (Speed x Time)

= 2 x 900 =1800m

Also 1km= 1000m

Therefore 1800x (1/1000) = 1.8km.

The distance between her house and the school is 1.8 km.

To find : time taken by Rina to cover a distance .

Given : distance = 500\ m   , speed = 5\ m/sec

Solution :

  • According to question we have to find the time taken by Rina to cover a distance of  500\ m with  the speed of 5\ m/sec  .
  • To calculate time , we have following formula of speed :
  • Speed = \frac{Distance}{Time }
  • Substituting the values in above formula ,

         5\ m/sec = \frac{500\ m}{Time }  \\Time = \frac{500\ m}{5\ m/sec}  \\Time = 100\  sec

  • We know that , 1 minute = 60 seconds
  • Therefore , 100 sec = 1 min 40 sec .

Hence , Rina took 1 min 40 sec  to cover the distance .
