Find the total distance covered in kilometre by a car in 20 minutes that move with a non uniform speed of 50 km per hour for the first 10 minutes and then with a speed of 60 km for the next minute.

total distance covered =total speed ×total time

total time

time = 20min.

1hr=60min.

1min.=1/60hr

so in 20 min.= 20/60=1/3hrs.

1st case

speed=50 kmph

time=10min

in hours= 1/6hr

distance covered in first 1/6hrs(or 10 min.)= 1/6×50=50/6km

2nd case

speed 60kmph

time =10 min.

in hrs 1/6hrs

distance =60×1/6=10km

total distance in 20min.(1/3hrs) =10+50/6=18.23
