we have to find the total error in the sum , Z = A + B, where A = 1.23 ± 0.03 and B = 1.23 ± 0.01

solution : we know, when two quantities are added or subtracted, the absolute error in the final result is the sum of absolute errors of individual quantities.

i.e., Z ± ∆Z = (A + B) ± (∆A + ∆B)

here A = 1.23 ± 0.03 and B = 1.23 ± 0.01

so, Z ± ∆Z = (1.23 + 1.23) ± (0.03 + 0.01)

= 2.46 ± 0.04

Therefore total error in the sum of A and B is 0.04
