Answer :

We have been provided resistors containing circuit.

We have to find equivalent resistance between A and B.

[You forgot to mention resistance of upper right resistor so i am assuming it as x Ω]

Now let's solve it.

First of all we need to simplify the given circuit.

The best method which is used to simplify any complex circuit is potential method.

[See the attachment for better understanding]

There are no resistors between A-C and between B-D so we can assume point C to be A and D to be B.

Calculation :

→ In second branch, 8Ω and 6Ω are in series. Therefore equivalent resistance of this branch will be 8 + 6 = 14Ω

→ In third branch, 2Ω and xΩ are also in series. Therefore equivalent resistance of this branch will be (2 + x) Ω

Net equivalent resistance :

Finally all four resistors are in parallel.

➠ 1/R = 1/4 + 1/14 + 1/(2+x) + 1/4

➠ 1/R = 2/4 + 1/14 + 1/(2+x)

1/R = 8/14 + 1/(2+x)
