Given,

1. Length (L) = 20cm

2. Breadth (B) = 10 cm

3. Height (H) = 5 cm

To Find,

The total surface area of the chalk box

Solution,

Here, the chalk box is a cuboid

so, using the formula for the surface area of a cuboid.

Formula:

SA=2lw+2lh+2hw

where,

  • SA is the surface area
  • l is the length
  • w is width or breadth
  • h is height

Now, put the values in the above formula.

SA = 2x20x10 + 2x20x5 + 2x5x10

= 400 + 200 + 100

= 700 cm²

To get the answer in the SI unit we need to convert cm² to m²

1cm² = 10^–4 m²

I.e 0.07 m²

Hence, the total surface area of the chalk box is 700 cm².
