Surface area is the total surface area,
T.S.A = l x b x h
          = 8 x 12 x 14
          = 1344 cm^2

The lateral surface is the surface of all faces or sides that is not a base side.
L.S.A = 2 h ( l + b )
          = 2 x 14 x ( 8 + 12 )
          = 28 x 20
          = 560 cm^2
