Given: radius = 22 cm

To find: area of a hemisphere

Step-by-step explanation:

Hemisphere is one-half part of the sphere, the curved surface area is also one half of the sphere. To find the total surface area of the hemisphere, it is a sum of the curved surface area of hemisphere or area of the base circle.

The total surface area of hemisphere = curved surface area + Area of the base circle

                                                               = 2\pi r^2+\pi r^2

                                                               = 3\pi r^2

According to question

Now use formula to find total surface area of a hemisphere = 3\pi r^2

                                                                                                 = 3\times\frac{22}{7}\times22\times22

                                                                                                 = \frac{66\times484}{7}

                                                                                                  = \frac{31944}{7}

                                                                                                 = 4563.42 cm
