1/6 * x +8 = greater number/2

X/6 +8 = greater number/2

48+x/6 = greater number/2

(48+x)/3 - x = 4

(48+x - 3x)/3 = 4

48 - 2x = 4*3

48 - 2x = 12

48 - 12 = 2x

36 = 2x

x = 36/2

x = 18.

Therefore, smallest number = 18 ,

largest number = (48+18)/3

= (66/3)

= 22.
