Let the 1st number = x

And, the 2nd number = y

A.P.1st Condition

x + y = 5

x = 5-y

A.P.2nd condition

x*y = 6

Putting value of x = (5-y), we get.

(5-y)×y = 6

5y - y² = 6

-y²+5y-6 = 0

y²-5y+6 = 0

y²-2y-3y+6 = 0

y(y-2)-3(y-2) = 0

(y-3)(y-2) = 0

y-3 = 0. y-2 = 0

y = 3. y = 2

If y (2nd number) = 3,

Then value of 1st number = 5-y

= 5-3

= 2

If y (2nd number) = 2

Then value of 1st number = 5-y

= 5-2

= 3

Therefore, if 1st number is 2 then 2nd number is 3.

And, the value of 1st number is 3 then 2nd number is 2.
