Convert all units to m

8 decimeter = 80 cm = 0.8 m

10 cm = 0.1 m

Define x:

Let one of the parallel side be x

the other side is x + 0.8

Solve x:

Area of trapezium = 1/2 (a + b)h

1/2 (x + x + 0.8) (0.1) = 1.6

0.05(2x + 0.8) = 1.6

0.1x + 0.04 = 1.6

0.1x = 1.56

x = 15.6 m

Find the two parallel side:

one side = x = 15.6 m

the other side = x + 0.8 = 15.6 + 0.8 = 16.4 m

Answer: The length of the two parallel sides are 15.6m and 16.4m
