QUESTION

Find the two positive numbers whose sum is 15 so that the sum of their squares is minimum.

ANSWER

⇒a+b=15

⇒f(a,b)=a^{2}+B^{2} is minimum

⇒f(a)=A^{2}+(15−a)^{2}

⇒a=  15/12(in fraction) ,b= 15/12(in fraction)

⇒So a=  15/2   15/2 are two numbers for which f(a,b)= A^{2}+B^{2}  is  minimum
