Required Solution:

( i ) We know that the side opposite to the right angle is called the hypntenuse.

∴ AC² = BC² + AB²

➟ x² = 8² + 15²

➟ x² = 64 + 225

➟ x² = 289

➟ x² = (17)²

➟ x = 17

  • Hence, The solution of (i) = 17cm

--------------------------------------------------

( ii ) By pythagoras theorem,

PR² = QR² + PQ²

∴ 5² = 4² + x²

➟ 25 = 16 + x²

➟ x² = 25 – 16

➟ x² = 9

∴ x = 3

  • Hence, the solution of (ii) = 3cm

--------------------------------------------------

( iii ) By pythagoras theorem,

XZ² = YZ² + XY²

➟ x² = 7² + 24²

➟ x² = 49 + 576

➟ x² = 625

➟ x² = (25)²

➟ x = 25

  • Hence, the solution of (iii) = 25cm
