Find the unknown quantity:
a. Perimeter of a rectangular field is 84m and breadth is 16m, find out
length and area.
b. The total cost of flooring a room at Rs 8.50 per square metre is Rs 510. If
the length of the room is 8m, find its breadth.
c. The area of a square is 3.24 m2. Find its side length and perimeter.
d. Area of a square field is 169m2, find its side length and perimeter.
e. A hall in the form of a rectangular region is 14m x 12m . How many
marble slabs 8cm x 6cm are needed to cover the floor of the hall.
f. The perimeter of a rectangular field is 250 m and its length is 50 m. Find:
i. its breadth
ii. its area
iii. cost of ploughing the field at the rate of Rs 20 per square metre.

Answer 1

a.length= perimeter-breadth= 84-16=68m

Area= lxb = 68x 16=1088 m²

b. Breadth of the room is 7.5m.

c. Length=1.8m , perimeter= 4x1.8=7.2m

d. length=13m, perimeter= 52m

e.40000 tiles are needed to cover the floor.

f.(i)breadth = 100 m

(ii) Area of rectangular field = length x breadth

= 150 m x 100 m = 15000 m²

(iii) Cost of ploughing the field at the rate of

= Rs 1.20 per square m² = area of the field x rate of ploughing = 15000 m² x Rs 1.20 per square metre = Rs 15000 x 1.20 = Rs 18000
