Here are the valencies of Sulphur and Phosphorus in the given compounds:-

SO2 

S -4       O-2 (Valency)

Therefore by criss-cross method we get,

SO2

∴ Valency of Sulphur here is 4

SO3

S- 6      O-2

By criss-cross we get,

SO3

∴ Valency of  Sulphur here is 6

Similarly we get the valency of phosphorus to be

3 in P2O3

and,

5 in P2O5
