find the valu of k for which x^2-(k+1)x+4=0has equal roots

let the roots are a, a
a + a = k+1
2a = k+1
a*a = 4/1 , a^2 = 4 ,
a = +-2
2*2 = k+1
k = 3
2*(-2) = k+1
k = -5
