To find : value of (-38 \times 711 )

Solution :

  • Multiplication is a process of repetitive addition of integers.
  • According to multiplication rule for integers , we know that   if one negative and one positive integers are multiplied then the product obtained is negative integer. i.e. $(-) \times(+)=-$
  • Therefore according to above rule we will find the value of ( -38 \times 711 )
  • We multiply unit digit of 711 by 8 and then by 3 of  (-38) . similarly tens digit of 711 is multiplied by 8 and 3 respectively . Same is followed by hundreds digit i.e. 7 .
