(a) - 5/9×10/8

 =  \frac{ - 5}{9}  \times  \frac{10}{8}  \\  =  \frac{ - 5}{9}  \times  \frac{5}{4}  \\  =  \frac{ - 25}{36}

(b)- 6/5 of 400

 =  \frac{ - 6}{5}  \times 400 \\  =  - 480
