we know that (a+b) (a-b)

 =  >  {a}^{2}  -  {b}^{2}

here a = 1

and b =√2

therefore,(a^2)-(b^2)

 =  {1}^{2}  -  { \sqrt{2} }^{2}  \\  = 1 - 2 \\   = - 2

hope it will help you

plese mark me as brainleist
