Question -:

Find the value of 12% of 350 km.

\sf\underline{Solution }\dag

12\% \: of \: 350 \: km.

 \frac{12}{100} \times 350 \: km.

42 \: km.

Thus, 42 km is 12% of 350 km.

Steps -:

1) First convert the percentage into fraction by dividing it by 100.

2) "Of" will become ×.

3) Now, reduce the numbers to their simplest forms.

4) First I cut off the zeroes. 350 becomes 35 and 100 becomes 10. Now, 35 and 10 are divosible by 5.

5) 5 × 7 = 35 and 5 × 2 = 10. So, 35 is now 7 and 10 is now 2.

6) Now 12 and 2 are both divisible by 2, so reduce them. Since 2 × 6 = 12 and 2 × 1 = 2, therefore, we are now left with 6 on the LHS and 7 on the RHS.

7) Since these two numbers are on the opposite side, therefore we multiply them. 6 × 7 = 42 km.

Therefore, this is how we get the answer. You can always find the answer using this method.

Hope it helps! :)
