12% of 980 = 12/100 *980  = 117.6
x% of 450 = 450x/100 = 45x/10
30% of 227 = 30/100 *227 = 68.1

117.6 -45x/10 = 68.1
  = -45x/10 = 68.1 - 117.6 = -49.5
  =  -45x = -495
  =  x = 495/45 = 11

Given:

An expression

12% of 980 - ?% of 450 = 30% of 227

To find:

The value of '?'.

Solution:

The value of '?' is 11.

To answer this question, we will follow the following steps:

First of all, we should know that one Percent means 1/100.

or

1 ℅ = 1/100

Now,

As given in the question, we have,

12% of 980 - ?% of 450 = 30% of 227

Let the '?' be x.

This can be written as

 \frac{12}{100}   \times 980 -  \frac{x}{100}  \times 450 =  \frac{30}{100}  \times 227

After multiplying by 100 on both sides, we get

12 \times 980 - x \times 450 = 30 \times 227

On dividing by 30 on both sides, we get

4 \times 98 - x \times 15 = 227

On solving the above, we get

392 - 15x = 227

15x = 165

x = 11

Hence, the value of '?' is 11.
