 = 100 {}^{2}  + 42 {}^{2}  + (2 \times 100 \times 42)

 = 100 {}^{2}  + 42 {}^{2}  + 8400

add this to

 - 42 {}^{2}

we get

100 {}^{2}  + 42 {}^{2}   + 8400 - 42 {}^{2}

 = 10000 + 8400

 = 18400
