a+b=9____(I)
a-b=5______(ii)
adding eq__1 and 2
a+b+a-b=14
2a=14
a=7
NOW b=9-a=9-7=2
so 4ab=4×7×2=56. @ns

9

a+b=9 a-b=-5 So by eliminating equation 2 from 1 we get that: a+b=9 a-b=-5 that implies  2a=4 a=2  a+b=9 2+b=9 b=9-2 b=7  4ab=4(2)(7)=56   Hope it was helpful...
