Question :

 find \:the \:value \:of \: \left( \sqrt{5} - \frac{1}{\sqrt{5}} + 1\right) + \left(\sqrt{5} + \frac{1}{\sqrt{5}} -1 \right)

Solution :

by opening the brackets

 \sqrt{5} - \frac{1}{\sqrt{5}} + 1 + \sqrt{5} + \frac{1}{\sqrt{5}} -1

 (\sqrt{5} + \sqrt{5}) + \left(\cancel{\frac{1}{\sqrt{5}}} - \cancel{\frac{1}{\sqrt{5}}}\right) + (1-1)

 2\sqrt{5} \\ \\ \\ {\pink{\boxed{the \:value \:of \: \left( \sqrt{5} - \frac{1}{\sqrt{5}} + 1\right) + \left(\sqrt{5} + \frac{1}{\sqrt{5}} -1 \right) = 2\sqrt{5} }}}
