ANSWER

Radioactive reactions follow first order kinetics. Half-life period of a reaction is the time required for the reaction to be half completed.

Amount of substance left unreacted after one half life= 2[A]0

where, [A]0 is initial concentration.

Amount of substance left after two half lives= 22[A0]

In general,

Amount of substance left unreacted after nhalf lives= 2n[A0]

Now, Half life of 53I125=60 days

Total time= 180 days

No. of Half lives= 60180=3

So, amount of reactant left unreacted after 3half lives= 23[A]0

=8[A]0

% left= [A]0[A0]/8×100%

=81×100%=12.5%
