find b first
that is 1/a
so 1/(5+2√6)
rationalize it you get
5-2√6/(25-24)
=5-2√6
so now put the value
a^2 +b^2
=(5+2√6)^2+ (5-2√6)^2
=25+20√6+24+25-20√6+24
=49+25-24
=50
that is 1/a
so 1/(5+2√6)
rationalize it you get
5-2√6/(25-24)
=5-2√6
so now put the value
a^2 +b^2
=(5+2√6)^2+ (5-2√6)^2
=25+20√6+24+25-20√6+24
=49+25-24
=50
