Answer:

 \frac{ \sqrt{3}  - 1}{ \sqrt{3} + 1 }  = a - b \sqrt{3}  \\  \\ \frac{ \sqrt{3}  - 1}{ \sqrt{3} + 1 }  \times \frac{ \sqrt{3}  - 1}{ \sqrt{3} - 1 }  \\  \\ \frac{( \sqrt{3}  - 1) {}^{2} }{ (\sqrt{3}) {}^{2} -   (1) {}^{2} }  \\  \\  \frac{3 + 1 - 2 \sqrt{3} }{3 - 1} \: \:\: \: [(a-b)^{2}=a^{2}+b^{2}-2ab] \\  \\  \frac{4 - 2 \sqrt{3} }{2}  \\  \\  \frac{2(2 -  \sqrt{3}) }{2}  \\  \\ \bf  = 2 -  \sqrt{3}

On comparing 2 - √3 by a - b√3.

a = 2 and b = 1.
