if (x+1) is a factor of p(x)
x=-1
(-1)^3-3(-1)^2-a(-1)+b=0
-1-3+a+b=0
a+b=4
if (x-5) is a factor of p(x)
x=5
(5)^3-3(5)^2-a(5)+b=0
125-75-5a+b=0
50-5a+b=0
-5a+b=-50
solve 1&2 equations
a+b=4
-5a+b=-50
_________
6a=54
a=54/6
a=9
a+b=4
9+b=4
b=4-9
b=-5
a=9,b=-5
hope it helps you.....
