Solution :--

a= 3-2√2

so,

1/a= 1/(3-2√2)

= (3+2√2)/(3-2√2)(3+2√2)

= (3+2√2)/(9-8)

= (3+2√2)

so,

a + 1/a

= (3-2√2)-(3+2√2)

= 3-2√2-3-2√2

= -4√2

or,

√2= 1.414

so,

= -4×1.414

= -5.656
