I think after drawing the graph of the condition given above, you will find that the mid point of line segment joining Q and R, lies on (-3,2)
and acc. to question, the value of p which is the mid point of QR,is (a÷3,2)
thus,on equating these,
a÷3,2=-3,2
a÷3=-3
a=3×-3=-9
