9x² - 7a + a = 6

[substituting x = 1]

9(1²) - 7a + a = 6

9 - 6a = 6

-6a = 6-9

-6a = -3

[both negative signs can be removed]

6a=3

a=3/6

therefore, a=1/2 or a=0.5
