∆= 1/2(x intercept)(y intercept)
Since the equation is 3x+4y = a
the intercept form is ×/(a/3) + y / (a/4) =1
x intercept is a /3 and y intercept is a /4
1/2 × a/3×a/4 = 6
a^2/24 =6
a = 12
