 \sqrt{ {(x1 - x2)}^{2} + {(y1 - y2)}^{2} } = 9 \\ \\ {( - 3 - a)}^{2} + {( - 14 + 5)}^{2} = 81 \\ \\ {(a + 3)}^{2} + {( - 9)}^{2} = 81 \ \\ \\ {(a + 3)}^{2} = 81 - 81 \\ \\ {(a + 3)}^{2} = 0 \\ \\ a + 3 = 0 \\ \\ a = - 3
