When we x as 1/2 we get Zero as a result.

2 \times  {( \frac{1}{2}) }^{3}  + a {( \frac{1}{2}) }^{2}  + 11 (\frac{1}{2}  )+ a + 3 = 0

2 \times  \frac{1}{8}  + a \times  \frac{1}{4}  +  \frac{11}{2}  + a + 3 = 0

 \frac{1}{4}  +  \frac{a}{4}  +  \frac{11}{2}  + a + 3 = 0

 \frac{1 + a + 22 + 4a + 12}{4}  = 0

35 + 5a = 0

5a = - 35

a = - 7
