Step-by-step explanation:

x-1=0

x=1

substituiting the value of x as it is a multiple

2(1)^4-4(1) ^3+a(1) ^2-3(1) -14 =0

2-4+a-3-14 =0

a-19 = 0

Therefore a=19

hope it's clear!!
