given : x = -2

According to question

 \:  \:  \: 3x - 1 = 5x + a \\  =  > 3 \times ( - 2) - 1 = 5 \times ( - 2) + a \\  =  >  - 6 - 1 =  - 10 + a \\  =  >  - 7 + 10 = a \\  =  > a = 3
