2x  {}^{3}  - 2ax {}^{2}  + 5x + a + 6 \\ 2(a) {}^{3}  - 2a(a) {}^{2}  + 5(a) + a + 6 \\ 2a {}^{3  } - 2a { }^{3}   + 5a + a + 6 \\

2a {}^{3}  - 2a {}^{3}  \: gets \: cancelled \\6a + 6 = 0 \\ 6a =  - 6 \\ a =  \frac{ - 6}{6}  \\ cancelling \:  - 6 \: and \: 6.......we \: get \:  - 1. \\ a \:  =  - 1
