{a-b}^2=9
a^2-2ab+b^2=9
a^2+b^2=9+2ab=9+6=15
a^2+b^2=15

As we known :

a - b =3

ab = 3

The answer :

a² + b² = (a - b)² + 2ab

a² + b² = 3² + 2 x 3

a² + b² = 9 + 6

a² + b² = 15

So, the answer a² + b² is 15

I hope that helped. :)
