Hope u like my process
=====================

=> If (x-1) is a factor of f(x) =x²+ bx - 3,

Then, if x = 1, the f(x) = 0

So,

 =  >  \bf \:  {x}^{2}  + bx -  3 = 0 \\  \\  or. \:  \:  {1 }^{2}  + b(1) - 3 =  0 \\  \\ or.  \bf \: \:  \: b = 3 - 1 = 2
So, b = 2
