on comparing the given equation with ax

a {}^{2}  + bx + c = 0

we get a=5,b=2,c=1

b {}^{2}  - 4ac = 2 { }^{2}  - 4 \times 5 \times 1 \\  4 - 20 \ \\   \sqrt{} 16 \\b  {}^{2} { - 4ac = } 4

Therefore discriminant is 4
