we know i^2= -1

so

i+i^2+i^3+i^4

i+(-1)+i^2.i+i^2.i^2

=i-1+(-1).I+(-1).(-1)

=i-1-i+1

=0

=I-1-I+1 [therefore I2=-1,I3=-I and I4
