system of equation:

kx + 3y = 3

12x + ky = 6

For no solution :

\frac{a_1}{a_2}=\frac{b_1}{b_2} \neq\frac{c_1}{c_2}

Thus,

k/12 = 3/k ≠ 3/6

Taking first two ,

k/12 = 3/k

⇒ k² = 12×3 = 36

⇒ k = (+ or -) √36

⇒ k = 6 or -6

Taking second two,

3/k ≠ 3/6

⇒ 3×k ≠ 3×6

⇒ k ≠ 18/3

⇒ k ≠ 6

So k is -6.
