Step-by-step explanation:

On comparing the equation with ax²+bx+c, we have,

a= k

b= -4

c= 1

So, D=b²-4ac

= (-4)²-4*k*1

=16-4k

now, for real and equal roots D must be zero.

so, 16-4k=0

4(4-k)=0

4-k=0. or K=0

k=4 and k=0

since, k=0 does not satisfy the equation

so, k=4.
