Answer:

As the roots are equal

so,

D = 0

D = b² - 4ac ( d is the discriminant )

Here,

==>> b = 2

==>> a = 8

==>> c = k

⟹ D = 0

⟹ b² - 4ac = 0

⟹ ( 2) ² - 4 × 8 × k = 0

⟹ 4 - 32k = 0

⟹ -32k = -4

⟹ k = \dfrac{-4}{-32}

⟹ k = \dfrac{1}{8}

so, the value of k is \dfrac{1}{8}
