Note: For parallel lines, a pair of linear equations will be of the form: a1/a2 = b1/b2 and they are inconsistent equations.

Given: Equations Kx + 2y + 3 = 0 and 8x + Ky + 1 = 0, parallel lines

Kx + 2y + 3 = 0. ----- (1)

8x + Ky + 1 = 0 ------ (2)

Since lines are parallel, K/ 8 = 2/K

--> K² = 16

--> K = +16 OR -16

∴ Value of K = +16/ -16
