8kx(x-1)+1= 8kx2- 8kx +1

quadriatic equation is always : ax2+bx+c

This, in this equation, a is 8k, b is -8k and c is 1

In quadriatic equations, if the roots are real and equal, it means that b2- 4ac =0

(-8k)^2 - 4(8k)1

= 64k2 - 32k=0

64k2=32k

k2/k, = 32/64

This k =1/2 or 0.5
