Given

A polynomial

  • 4x³+3x²-4x+k
  • whose factor is X-1

To find

  • Value of k

Solution

From remainder theorem

g(X) = x-1

=>x-1 =0

=>X=1

  • Here if we put X =1 then the polynomial become 0

p(X) =4x³+3x²-4x+k

p(1) = 4(1)+3(1)-4(1)+k

=>0=4+3-4+k

=>k=-3

Hence value of k in the given polynomial is s -3
