Step-by-step explanation:

x=1 ,y= -1

3x-ky=8

3(1)-k(-1)=8

3+k=8

k=8-3

k=5

Answer:

Let the equation be given as:---

=) 3x-ky=8. ----------------(1)

It is given that point P(1,-1) is the solution so it satisfy the given equation.

Put x=1 & y= -1 in the given equation. ----- (1 ) we get

=) 3(1) -k(-1) =8

=) 3 + k = 8

=) K = 8-3 = 5 ans.

Now equation becomes :-

=) 3x -5y =8

Now another point lying on this line must satisfy the given equation

So put x=2 we get,

=) 3(2) -5y = 8

=) 6 - 5y =8

=) -5y = 2

=) y = -2/5

So point (2, -2/5) lies on the line : 3x-5y = 8
