so
x-1 = 0
x = 1
so we got the value of x so put it in the equation
the equation is 4x^3 + 3x^2 - 4x + k = 0
4(1)^3 + 3(1)^2 -4(1) + k = 0
4 + 3 - 4 + k = 0
so
k = -3 is the answer.
