4x^2+kx+k-3=0
When roots are equal
D=0
ie.b^2-4ac=0
Here,
b=k, a=4 ,c =k-3
k^2-4×4(k-3)=0
k^2-16k+48=0
K^2-12k-4k+48=0
k(k-12) - 4(k-12)=0
(k-4) (k-12)=0
k=4
k=12
