we generally know that any midpoint divide the linesegment into two parts.
so p=[a+b]/2. .given
a(5k,3) and b(-k,-7) let these be a(x1,x2) and b(y1,y2) and let p (m1,m2) now we have
m1= 5k+(-k)/2=4
and
m2= 3+(-7)/2=-2. so we get 4k/2=4 I.,e
4k=8 and k=2 and even you can see that already m2 is satisfied
hence value of k=2
